John Anthony (R-Joliet)
Former State Representative John Anthony (R-Joliet) was sworn into office on August 26, 2013, representing Illinois’ 75th District, making history as the first Black Republican in the Illinois House since the 1980s. Before politics, he served in law enforcement with the Champaign Police Department and the Kendall County Sheriff’s Department, where he earned the Ervin H. Warren “Cop of the Future” award for leadership and integrity. As a legislator, Anthony served on key committees, including Agriculture & Conservation, Appropriations-Public Safety, and Judiciary-Criminal. After leaving office, he became the host of “Black And Right with John Anthony” on WIND-AM 560, where he offers a Black conservative perspective on local, state, and national issues. A strong supporter of President Donald Trump, Anthony frequently challenges mainstream media and left-wing narratives. He and his wife, Deborah, live in Joliet with their six children.
